SOTD: Songes

I spent my morning contemplating wearing Angelique Encens, but it occurred to me I had not worn Annick Goutal's Songes in a long time, and it turns out to be the perfect choice. Once again I am wearing a white floral anchored by incense and a fluffy marshmallow vanilla. Songes is at once a beautifully golden scent that is accentuated by dark undercurrent of very animalic musk. It reminds me of the ballroom scene from Jim Henson's Labyrinth (one of my favorite movies):

And yes you can totally laugh at me for loving something so 1980's, but I won't be stopped in my love.

I'd just like to tell you how much I adore your blog. You pair perfumes with music, movies and images so exquisitely, it brings a bit of beauty into my day without fail.

Thank you,
Sue :-)

Would *never* make fun of anyone's movie passions....Henson did try, didn't he?

I've been thinking of Songes quite a bit this past week, but it will need to wait until the weekend. (Too many young and hyper sensitive people in too small a space during the work week.)

Can't believe this but have actually never seen Labyrinth... unbelievable considering I'm a child of the 80's!

Sue- Thank you so much for your kind words; glad to know I am bringing beauty to someone's day:-)

Scentscelf- Henson is considered awesome in my book and taking a look at Labyrinth it is still ahead of the times. It features a teenage girl as the hero of her story who is not chasing some boy or material goods. In fact it actually has a wonderful lesson of independence in it.

Daily- And you call yourself a child of the 80's!:-P You really should amend your non-labyrinth watching life.

Scentscelf, I find the best trick to wearing Songes is to apply it early and lightly.

Hi Jenavira- I love Labyrinth! it was always on tv at Christmas here in the 80s- I never knew it was a Jim Henson, although it makes sense, great man.

I finally tried the L'Instant Pour Homme and you're so right it's great! I never would have known- and I found it totally wearable on me, although I only used one spray. I was sniffing at my arm all evening.

Songes is very nice, one of the Goutals I like best- and a great name.

Rose- I wish this was on during Christmas time over her (instead we have the claymation story of Rudolph and Frosty, still they are a part of childhood).

So glad you enjoyed the L'Instant pour homme. I wish Guerlain advertised this one better, I can barely find it over here.

Songes, is such a gorgeous word; I do find the riff between them and L'Artisan for this one interesting.
