SOTD: Chanel No. 5 pure parfum

So the new Chanel No. 5 advertisement movie with Audrey Tautou has finally premiered and it is lovely. What strikes me the most about is the sense of intimacy you get from it nnlike the Nicole Kidman one (alright I didn't like that one). This advertisement really resonates with the scent because of one of the many stories to go with the legendary scent was that Coco wanted a scent that smelled like a woman, which i have always thought Chanel No. 5 does, it reminds me always of skin freshly powdered right after a bath.

SOTD: Chanel No.5 pure parfum

I am waiting for spring with anticipation and I trying to hold off on my spring fragrances until the first day of spring, obviously that has not been going very well, so today I chose to put on Chanel No. 5 pure parfum which I consider more a cold weather scent but with floral overtones, but it is not that today. Rather the balsamic undertones of it have come out to play today, the tobacco tinged vetiver is having its full reign. On the upside: Our cats are so snuggly that it is really hard to get up in the morning, both of them insisting on having their own snuggle time, it is a bit ridiculous.

SOTD: Chanel No.5 Sensual Elixir

So I haven't reached for an aldehydic beauty in awhile and I thought my sensual elixir deserved some attention, the day is cold and clear, and I think aldehydes sometimes do the best in this weather. Coldness keeps them bright and sparkling yet doesn't let them become overbearing. So far I have kept constant this year in being seasonel with my fragrances but I am pretty sure the doldrums are coming out in the fragrance community. So how is everyone doing, broken down yet and brought out the spring fragrances?

SOTD: Chanel No. 5 pure parfum

After the heavy orientals of the last few days I am suddenly wanting something a little bit more luminous so I am going with Chanel No. 5 pure parfum. Whenever I wear it I always have a few ideas and images pop into my head: opals, the aurora borealis, champagne, perfectly powdered skin after an evening bath, and the intriguing combination of black and a salmon pink. I also find it interesting that many people considering this such a cold scent when to my nose it has such a sparkling powdery quality.

On another scented note: If you are lover of the Elton John special edition scent, Fireside, which came out a few years ago and is a gorgeous smoky vanilla, it's back in candle form as Bendel's Vanilla Woods. I'm write now scenting my home with gorgeous home fragrance oil, that I basically hoard until cold weather comes.

Tea: PG Tip's special blend

I recently saw Yo-Yo Ma on The Colbert Report, play this Panxolina, and I was floored by his enthusiasm and warmth:

This is from his new album Songs of Joy and Peace which appears to be a new holiday album, either way you can't argue that this song is isn't joyous.

SOTD: Chanel N.5 pure parfum

It's hot and all I want is luxurious warm amber orientals, I can't have the warm amber, but I can have the luxurious Chanel N.5 pure parfum. I think the image goes perfectly if you know the history of Chanel N.5 which was inspired by the artic in spring. Plus I have always thought that there is something playful in Chanel N.5.

Scent of the Day: Chanel 5 pure parfum and I'm back

So I am finally back after going to France and having to deal with heinous computer problems (both internet and computer related at the same time, very hard to troubleshoot the problem). Today I am choosing to go aldehydic with Chanel 5 in pure parfum, I am always amazed at how much vetiver I get in the concentration.
The above illustration is provided by http://www.animationarchive.org/2007/12/illustration-felix-loriouxs-fables-de.html, which recently just posted these awesome illustrations by Felix Lorioux. Apparently at one time Walt Disney was going to hire, but then decided he wanted all his illustrators to be in-house, what a loss. Anyway's I am hoping that the ASIFA will post Lorioux's illustrations of fairytales by Perrault (you know Puss'n'boots) and as many of you know I love fairytales. The encourage the posting of the fairytales please leave a comment here:
