SOTD: Must de Cartier parfum

Go with the sensual elixir of Must de Cartier parfum. This is truly my favorite oriental, after years of thinking I could not wear one, this scent arrived in my life.

I still love Must (in parfum and EdP, not so much in EdT) but there's one thing that has been torturing me for years now... Must has changed. It smelled different up until the early 90's, greener somehow. It used to be the sexiest perfume I knew of, back then. It is still beautiful, but it is not Must. So I am left with an empty bottle and a leather bound box inlaid with satin, filled with memories of the scent that was. And even that, is fading away.

x,
Divina

I suppose that I am fortunate in just finding Must, because I can't do a comparison, but I know many have mentioned a reformulation of it. Even worse I fell in love with it first in edt form; what can I say it does something magical on my skin smoke, gingerbread, powder, a cherried vanilla, and lovely amber. Although I will say this I noticed yesterday while wearing the parfum that the parfum really does focus more on the gorgeous narcissus note and edt on the green manderin note. I know I am rather blasphemous for loving the edt :-P.

Must is amazing! (or at least the one I have in extrait is)

Did you know that when it first got issued there were two versions? One for day, one for night. Later that changed.

Helg, I have read about that. I think it is interesting that the night version is the one that won out in the end, but I wonder if that would have happened when if Must had been introduced in the 90's? Considering Must was introduced in the 80's when power scents were very in, it is not a shock that the heavier night version won out, but 90's with aquatics and the obsession for fresh, well I have sad feeling that Must wouldn't have made it.

I just want to say, that this parfum is really great. My girlfriend was using it. Good luck with your blog – it encludes very interesting articles.

I owned and wore the original MUst after smelling it on someone...she insisted that I buy the perfume and NOT the EDT because at that time they were indeed different scents. I also knew the perfumer who made it. He was a client of my boss at the time. I am afraid to try the re-formulation as I am sure it is not the same.

Sigh, the weird thing is to think that current variation of it is probably an even bigger difference considering this post is close to eight years old. At least my edt was recognizably related to the parfum, but not quite as sweet. Rather the narcissus is more emphasized.
