SOTD: Baghari

So I finally did it, I got a bottle of Baghari, a perfect little 30 ml bottle (why can't more companies make this size?). For years I have desired to have a Robert Piguet fragrance to call my own, but found neither Fracas nor Bandit to my liking, and then Baghari was released. I like to think of Baghari as the perfect aldehyde for beginners there is no sharpness to it, but at the same time there is no mistake that aldehydes are used in it. While I agree with Luca Turin on the wonderfulness of Baghari, especially the description of it being like "panetonne", I have to wonder where on earth he gets the idea that it's a chypre? There is nothing chypre about it. This always dries down on me to a warm ambered vanilla.

I'm a huge fan of this, Jen.

I think it's hard to classify, really; it's loaded w/ aldehydes, to be sure....
Then, there is ALL that orange, bitter and otherwise-
And the woodiness underneath.

The body wash is lovely, too- very true.

It's one of the loveliest re-issues of classic, isn't it? Usually they botch though, but this one was good. Like it as well.

Glad you seem to be having fun! :-)

Rose, lucky you can use Fracas, it unfortunately goes straight up my nose and never really softens. I really recommend trying this again.

Chayaruchama, this really is hard to classify, and I love the candied orange peel aspect of this scent, I never really get any bitterness from it though, I wonder if it is a skin thing? I really want to try out the toilletries (sp?) for this.

Helg, this really is one of the better re-issues of the classics, but I think they really do try to get it right with the Robert Piguet fragrancs...although I haven't heard as many good things about the last one Visa.

Daily, it really is the best size! You should try it when you can.
